Tour itinerary

Day 1 Cairo

Welcome to Cairo, the city of mysterious pyramids and pharaohs, tombs and temples and more than 6000 years of history. Our representative will meet you at the airport and transport you to your hotel in Cairo. This evening you will meet your tour leader (and fellow travellers), who will brief you about the next few days of your journey.

Day 2 Cairo

The morning is spent visiting the Giza Plateau to explore the world famous pyramids of Cheops, Chephren and Mycrenos. In the afternoon we will head our way to Sakkara, the first capital of ancient Egypt, famous for its step pyramid built by King Zoser in 2700 B.C. In the evening we’ll board the overnight train to Aswan.

Day 3 Aswan

Our day starts with the discovery of the High Dam before visiting the Philae Temple - dedicated to the Goddess Isis - and the unfinished Obelisk.

Day 4 Aswan, Nile Cruise

Today we board our 5 star cruise boat to begin our voyage on the Nile. We first visit the Elephantine and Kitchener Islands and then continue sailing north. We overnight on the cruise boat and enjoy the superb scenery from the deck of our floating hotel (meals included).

Day 5 Nile Cruise

Today we sail on the Nile all day long and enjoy the relaxing atmosphere of one of the greatest rivers on Earth. We remain on our 5 star cruise boat for another overnight stay (meals included).

Day 6 Nile Cruise, Komombo, Edfu, Luxor

After breakfast we will head to the Komombo Temple which was built during the Ptolemaic and Roman periods. The temple is dedicated to the crocodile god Sobek and god Horus. Then we continue to Edfu to visit the largest and best preserved temple in Egypt. The temple is dedicated to the falcon god Horus and was built over a 180-year period from 237 BC to 57 BC. We then set sail for Luxor. After cheking into our hotel, we depart to visit the temple of Luxor on the East Bank of the Nile which was dedicated to the great god Amun, his wife Mut and their son Khonsu (the mood god) - together representing the Theban triad. The temple was built on the site of a probable smaller structure for the god Amun, while the earliest parts of the temple seen today date from the 14th century BC and the time of Amenhotep III. seen today date from the 14th century BC and the time of Amenhotep III.

Day 7 Luxor, Valley of the Kings, Hatshepsut, Dahab

After breakfast we depart for the West Bank of the Nile where our donkeys are waiting to take us into the Valley of the Kings through quiet roads with captivating views of the Nile. After the donkey ride, we start our explore this magnificent site, “the city of the Dead”, where majestic tombs were carved into the desert rocks, decorated richly, and filled with treasures for the afterlife of the Pharaohs. Rising out of the desert plain in a series of terraces, the Temple of Queen Hatshepsut will be our next stop. In the afternoon we depart for Hurghada. You have the evening free to discover this interesting town by the Red Sea coast. We remain in Hurghada overnight. In the evening we board our overnight coach to Dahab, the activity and leisure centre of Egypt.

Days 8 to 9 Dahab

Two more days to savour the sun, sand, sea and to enjoy the activities available in Dahab : windsurfing, sailing, deep-sea fishing, swimming, but above all, snorkelling and diving. Jeep and camel safaris are also available in this charming Red Sea resort.

Days 10 El Shahira Desert, Camel Safari, Snorkelling, Desert Camp

This morning we depart for El Shahira Desert. After a half an hour Jeep drive we reach the 3 pools snorkelling spot in the south. After snorkelling and lunch at this fantastic spot we join a Camel Safari towards El Shahira. After one hour safari we reach El Shahira plateau, where we watch the spectacular sunset over the Gulf of Aqaba. Dinner and overnight stay at the desert.

Day 11 Gebel el Bint, Snorkelling, Camel Safari

After breaktast we head to Gebel El Bint on our camels (30 min ride) for snorkelling at the Red Sea. After lunch we depart for Valley of Gebel el Bint (30 min Camel safari) where we remain for another night. Dinner at the sahara.

Days 12 Valley of Gebel el Bint, Dahab, Desert Camp

Today we head back north by camels. We stop by the "Caves" snorkelling spot for lunch and swimming. Then we make our way to Dahab to stay overnight in a camp site.

Day 13 Dahab, Cairo

A relaxing day in Dahab is awaiting us. In the evening we board our overnight coach back to Cairo.

Day 14 Cairo

Our journey continues with a visit to one of the most important museums in the world, the Egyptian Museum, which houses more than 100.000 relics of ancient Egypt. Today we also explore the Citadel of Saladin, Mosque of Mohamed Ali, the Hanging Church and the world famous Kahn El Khalili bazaar.

Day 15 Cairo

Our trip ends after breakfast in Cairo. Our representative will transport you to the airport.

Who goes on this tour?

This tour is very popular and although not designed specifically for 18-35's it does tend to attract a young crowd mainly from Australia, New Zealand and the UK. Many people travel on their own, as couples or with friends.
