Accommodation

This is a full camping trip and you are provided with a 'Dome' or 'A' frame style two-person tent with a built in ground sheets and mosquito netting. As this is a full participation trip you will be expected to put up and break down your tent.

Transport

You will travel on a purpose built truck made to deal with the terrain and climates we encounter along the way in Africa and the Middle East. We carry a maximum of 24 people.

The Crew

Except in exceptional circumstances, all vehicles have two crew - a Driver and a Tour Leader. Their experience and knowledge will enable you to get the most out of your trip and to have an unforgettable experience. Their roles are many and varied and include amongst other things, maintaining the truck throughout the trip, organising group activities and bookings, managing trip funds, overseeing group rosters, organising border crossings and permits, organising the day to day running of the trip and passing on general information to the group. However, they are not guides as such, so do not expect them to hold your hand every step of the way, get out and experience things for yourself, read the guide books, get lost in markets, met the local people and talk to them - its all part of the experience!

Who goes on this tour?

Adventurous people in their 20's and 30's, from all walks of life and nationalities and who are seeking to experience the real Africa. Many people book their trip with friends or as a couple, but about half of the customers are individual travellers who find that overlanding is an ideal way to travel if you are on your own.

What is expected of me?

This is a full participation trip so you are expected to have full active involvement in your trip - this is a fundamental requisite to building a good travelling group. Therefore, helping to cook over open fires, buy food from local markets, party, and participate in the unexpected are essential ingredients.

Gorilla Trek & Permit

These are NOT included in the tour price and currently cost £320 (this can change). These permits must be purchased in advance. Therefore, if you wish to see the Mountain Gorillas please let your consultant know.
