Description
This is where our snowshoeing programme was born. Over fifteen years ago we started to entice our summer walkers back to enjoy this area's stunning winter scenery on snowshoes. The valleys and ridges around the French spa town of Luchon are perfect for winter exploration, and our series of tried and tested daywalks take in the best views of the area as we climb to a ridge or small peak each day. Historically the Pyrenees retain good snow cover well into the season and the winter walking is spectacularl even at the end of the winter when snow may only coat the higher stretches. Our base is La Fenière, a cosy mountain lodge nestling in the Vallée du Lys, ten minutes drive from Luchon, with superb views of the highest peaks in the area.

Day 1:
Start Luchon.
Day 2-4:
Three snowshoe walks.
Day 5:
Free day for relaxation or optional activities including downhill skiing or paragliding.
Day 6-7:
Two further snowshoe walks.
Day 8:
End Luchon.

Accommodation
La Fenière Mountain Lodge.Our private lodge is a lovely converted stone barn, situated in the Valle du Lys, just a stone's throw from the highest peaks that form the border. The comfortable lounge / dining room is equipped with a wood burning stove, a small bar and an Ipod docking station. There are 5 simple twin rooms with basins. Bathroom and shower facilities are shared.

General Information
Transport by private minibus and car. Five moderate to strenuous daywalks with snowshoes. No previous snowshoeing experience necessary, good fitness required.
