Tunisia Explorer (EDAYT)

Duration: 9 days (may vary)
Areas: Tunisia
Tour types: History & Culture, Nature & Wildlife

Description

We traverse this diverse country from the Mediterranean to the Sahara, visiting spectacular Roman sites, mountainous fortified kasbahs and the shady forests of the north. We visit Kairouan, a UNESCO World Heritage site, and the area around Matmata, a dramatic landscape often used by Hollywood, also home to a number of troglodyte dwellings. Heading south, we enjoy the unforgettable experience of a camel trek into the Sahara to sleep amongst the silent dunes. This is a great trip to get a real insight into the history, culture and beautiful landscapes which Tunisia has to offer. The Observer - writes about The Sahara Desert Trek Adventure (21 September 2008). Quote from the article: '...the desert seems to be a place a person should visit during a well-lived lifetime.'Psychologies Magazine - Sophie Stewart heads into Tunisia's Sahara Desert for a group trek (October 2008).
