However it's the stunning scenery that acts as a backdrop to these sites that sets Lebanon apart. The Mediterranean coastline accentuates the beauty of Byblos's sea-castle, while downtown Beirut is alive at night with bustling streets, restaurants and bars. Many come to enjoy the delicious, healthy food, known for being one of the country's principal attractions, in a city that never sleeps.

Tour itinerary

Day 1:

Start Beirut.

Day 2:

Scenic drive in the Bekaa Valley to Umayyad ruins at Anjar, continue on to Roman ruins at Baalbek; visit wine-makers in Ksara (stop for tasting!).

Day 3:

Morning tour of Beirut; on to Jeita Grottos (optional); afternoon visit Byblos.

Day 4:

Free morning in Byblos; return to Beirut for free afternoon.

Day 5:

End Beirut.
