Accommodation

The Adventure Company chooses hotels according to the main criteria of being well-located and clean, with private facilities (shower/bath and toilet) and hot water. The hotels on this trip are no exception, and will feature rooms with en suite facilities. Where possible we will choose centrally located properties, although sometimes your hotel will be a short walk into town. Hotels usually have a restaurant or buffet service too.

Adventure Level

This is an active trip although activities will be tailored to the abilities of the group and some are optional. An ability to swim is recommended. Minimum age: 12 years

Climate

Temperate Mediterranean climate in the south, i.e. dry and sunny in summer. The north has a more Continental climate – rain can fall even in summer. In general though between June and September temperatures are consistently over 25°C (and can rise over 30°C in July and August); the alpine region is a little cooler due to its elevation, particularly in spring and autumn. Weather in the mountains can be extremely changeable - thunderstorms are common in summer, whereas the weather in spring and autumn is often more settled.

Responsible Travel

For every person travelling on this trip, The Adventure Company will donate £2 to a carbon offset programme. More details can be found on our website.

Staying in small family-run hotels, eating in local restaurants and using a local Slovenian agent, driver and Group Leader is the best way of ensuring that our money reaches as many people as possible. Our agent in Slovenia has a strong policy of responsible tourism, committed to protecting the great outdoors. Whilst staying on Lake Bohinj you’ll try local food, gaining an insight into traditional Slovenian mountain life.

Since the increase in popularity of bottled water, many countries are experiencing a problem of litter especially where adequate recycling is not available. Please could you try, where possible, to use purification tablets or filters for water or buy bigger bottles of water between group members and decant into your individual water bottles.
