Climate
Karelia benefits from warm and pleasant summers – although the weather is very changeable and rain is always possible. The unpredictability of the seasons means that temperatures fluctuate day-by-day and season-by-season, but are, on the whole, consistently above 15ºC. Temperatures of about 25ºC occur on several days during the summer, but are not the norm. The ‘Midnight Sun’ is around 22–24 June, when daylight will be continual 24 hours a day.
NB - it may be a little cool for swimming in the lakes in early May, but by July & August the waters and weather have warmed up considerably. Normal water temperature in summer is around 20°C.

Responsible Travel
For every person travelling on this trip, The Adventure Company will donate £2 to a carbon offset programme. More details can be found on our website.
Our Finnish local agent and other specialists provide us with all of the accommodation, transport and activities. This all means our money stays in Finland and directly provides employment for their staff. For example, our accommodation high in the Koli hills is owned by a local family living nearby and provides income for them. There's also the opportunity to learn about a smallholder's lifestyle / the history of forestry while mountain biking, and the area's flora and fauna during your hiking around Koli - which in itself is a protected nature reserve.
